Misano delivered drama, heartbreak, and a touch of fairytale on Saturday as Marco Bezzecchi stormed to his first Sprint victory of 2025 — and Aprilia’s first of the season — at his home track. The Rimini-born rider converted pole into a commanding performance, sending the Italian crowd into raptures while Marc Marquez’s aggressive challenge ended in the gravel.
Bezzecchi vs. Marquez: The Early Fight
From the lights, Bezzecchi nailed the launch to hold Turn 1, but Marc Marquez — starting from fourth — wasted no time. The Spaniard carved around the outside of his brother Alex at Turn 2, flashing early intent. For the opening laps, Marquez looked menacing, quick through the opening sectors and threatening in the final corners. But Bezzecchi had an answer. At the fast, sweeping Turn 11, the Aprilia always found a way to breathe and break free.

By Lap 3, Bezzecchi laid down the fastest lap, trying to stretch a gap. But drama struck elsewhere — Fabio Quartararo slid out from fourth at Turn 2, unable to cling on to the leading pack. The battle at the front tightened again, Marquez closing the gap and snatching the lead briefly on Lap 6. Yet just as the fight was set to ignite, the eight-time world champion’s front end folded at Turn 15. Down went Marquez — his first Sprint race crash of the season — leaving Bezzecchi unchallenged.
Controlling the Race, Sealing the Moment
Freed from Marquez’s shadow, Bezzecchi kept his composure despite pressure from Alex Marquez. The Italian rode with the calmness of a veteran, inching out a one-second cushion by the flag. Behind him, Fabio Di Giannantonio fought off VR46 teammate Franco Morbidelli for the final podium spot, while KTM’s Pedro Acosta and rookie sensation Fermin Aldeguer scrapped for fifth.
Further back, reigning champion Jorge Martín salvaged eighth after a scrappy ride, with Aprilia’s Raul Fernández and last year’s winner Enea Bastianini rounding out the top ten. Big names struggled — Pecco Bagnaia limped home 13th, while Johann Zarco and Maverick Viñales never factored.
