Lakshmi Puja in 2025 will be celebrated on Monday, 20th October, during Diwali Amavasya, a day dedicated to worshipping Goddess Lakshmi, the bringer of wealth, prosperity, and harmony.

According to the Hindu Panchang,

The Amavasya Tithi begins at 03:44 PM on October 20 and ends at 05:54 PM on October 21.

The most auspicious time for performing the Puja falls during Pradosh Kaal (06:12 PM to 08:40 PM), when both Sthir Lagna (Vrishabha Kaal: 07:40 PM to 09:40 PM) and Pradosh overlap.

The best Lakshmi Puja Muhurat is from 07:40 PM to 08:40 PM on October 20.

For those following Nishita Kaal traditions, the midnight Puja Muhurat will be from 11:58 PM to 12:48 AM on October 21.

Additionally, Choghadiya timings like Afternoon (03:44 PM to 06:12 PM), Evening (06:12 PM to 07:44 PM), Night (10:50 PM to 12:23 AM), and Early Morning (01:56 AM to 06:34 AM, Oct 21) are also considered auspicious for worship.

Traditionally, devotees begin the day with an early morning bath, pay respects to ancestors, and worship family deities.

Since it is Amavasya, Shradh rituals are also observed by many households.

A significant custom is keeping a day-long fast, which is broken only after performing Lakshmi Puja in the evening.

Preparation for the Puja involves decorating homes with marigold garlands, Ashoka, mango, and banana leaves, and placing a Mangalik Kalash with an unpeeled coconut at the main entrance for auspiciousness.

On a raised platform, idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha are installed on a red cloth, adorned with silk and ornaments, while a white cloth is used for invoking the Navgraha deities by placing nine slots of rice and sixteen slots of wheat.

The rituals are carried out with devotion as per Lakshmi Puja Vidhi, offering prayers, lighting diyas, and chanting mantras to invite divine blessings.

While Mahanishita Kaal Puja is often reserved for Tantrik practices and learned Pandits, for most devotees, the Pradosh Kaal Muhurat is considered the most auspicious time to worship Goddess Lakshmi and seek prosperity, happiness, and peace in life.
